The Nationwide branch now has a public defibrillator and bleed control kit available around the clock.
It is part of a nationwide scheme covering all 605 Nationwide branches across the UK and is intended for use by anyone in an emergency.
In a Facebook post, Wallingford Town Council said: “Have you spotted this new lifesaving equipment in Wallingford?
“Wallingford is part of a major nationwide initiative which will see this lifesaving equipment installed at all 605 Nationwide branches across the UK – putting defibrillators and bleed control kits right at the heart of hundreds of communities.”
A defibrillator may help someone who suffers cardiac arrest, while the bleed control kit contains items to help manage a serious bleed until emergency crews arrive.
Anyone needing it should first call 999, and the operator will give instructions and, when needed, provide the access code.
Its external location means it can be reached 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The council thanked Nationwide UK for investing in the equipment.
