The new branch, now based inside Art Café at 12 Windmill Road in Oxford, replaces the former Post Office that closed in January due to the redevelopment of the Co-op store on London Road.
Anneliese Dodds, MP for Oxford East, attended the reopening on Friday, October 2 and cut the ribbon to mark the occasion.
Dipesh Modha, an experienced postmaster who previously managed Edgware Road Post Office in London for 10 years, is now running the Headington branch.
Mr Modha said: “People are really pleased that Headington Post Office has re-opened as they have missed having a branch on their doorstep.
“We’re getting great feedback.
“I really care about providing excellent customer service and the people that are in my team I chose if they are like minded.
“I’ve been busy getting to know my customers, to get their feedback and spreading the word with residents and businesses in the area to raise awareness that people can once again do their everyday banking and sending and collecting parcels in Headington and so much more.”
The new branch is about 280 metres from the previous site and will be open from 9am to 5.30pm, Monday to Saturday, offering 51 hours of service each week.
Customers will have access to a full range of Post Office services, including everyday banking, parcel collection and drop-off, passport applications, driving licence renewals, vehicle tax, and ID verification.
A Post Office spokesman said: “We are keen to restore service to this community as soon as possible, so we have decided to go ahead with our plans.
“This re-opening of the branch in a new location is a commercial decision for Post Office and we are not seeking feedback on this aspect of the change.
“However, we would welcome suggestions and feedback about access into and inside the new premises.”
The new Post Office has been designed with accessibility in mind, the business said.
The premises include a wide entrance door, a ramp for wheelchair users, a hearing loop, and sufficient internal space to accommodate mobility aids.
The reopening follows the closure of the previous branch in January, which was located within the Co-op at 152 London Road before the store shut down for site redevelopment.
The new site is a short walk from St Leonards Road Car Park, which is 120 metres away and offers pay-and-display parking.
Customers are encouraged to share their views on access and facilities at the new branch.
