Cotswold Wildlife Park – Urgent warning as toys recalled

Cotswold Wildlife Park, near Burford, issued an urgent product recall over the weekend on two of the toys sold in it shop.

They are the 2.2kg squishy hot colour large gorilla and stretchy monster six assorted try me blister card.

On its X page, the wildlife park posted: “We have been made aware that the following items sold at the Park’s Gift Shop are being recalled by the supplier due to a safety issue. If you have purchased one of these items, please remove it from use immediately.

“We have been made aware that the following items sold at the Park’s Gift Shop are being recalled by the supplier due to a safety issue.

“If you have purchased one of these items please make sure it is removed from use immediately and contact the Gift Shop via shop@cotswoldwildlifepark.co.uk or call 01993 825716.

“We will reimburse anyone who has bought one of the items with the affected batch numbers.

“We sincerely apologise for this matter and thank you for your understanding.”

It added: “As part of our ongoing commitment to product safety, it is our company policy to ensure all our products meet safety standards in line with all UK and European Legislation.

“Despite all the measures we have taken we have identified a potential problem with the product shown above.

“Testing has identified that the sand like material contained inside some products may contain trace amounts of asbestos therefore as a precautionary measure we are recalling this product from sale.

“If you have purchased the product shown above, stop using immediately and follow the below.

“If the toy is undamaged, place it in a heavy-duty plastic bag and double-tape it securely.

“If the toy is damaged and the sand inside is accessible, gather the sand using wet cloths to avoid generating dust. Wear gloves and a mask. Double-bag the sand and toy in a heavy-duty plastic bag. double-tape it securely, along with the gloves, mask and cloths.

“Keep children and other people away from areas where the sand has been exposed until the area has been cleaned.

“Return the sealed product and sand to this store for a full refund. if you are unable to return your product to this store, please follow the instructions above and dispose of in your general household waste.

The gift shop is situated just off the main car park. The shop sells a wide selection of gifts, toys and souvenirs. The gift shop closes at 5pm in the summer and 4pm in the winter.
