New mobile app launched to help people discover best Oxford

Oxford City Council has partnered with Discover to launch the Discover App, which highlights ‘everything there is to shop, eat and do in the city’.

The app is designed for both residents and visitors and is already a recognised tool for visitors and locals throughout the UK. It serves as a guide to businesses, activities and useful information.

It also offers personalised updates on offers, promotions and new businesses, tailored to individuals’ preferences.

The Discover App is free to use for both the public and businesses, and is part-funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, and the remaining is funded by Enterprise Oxfordshire.

Councillor Alex Hollingsworth, cabinet member for planning and culture at Oxford City Council, said: “Oxford has so much to offer for locals and visitors, but trying to discover everything can be difficult.

“That’s where the Discover App comes in.

“A free one-stop shop right in your pocket.

“Perfect for trying new places or making the most of local offers.”

The app covers the central area of Oxford, including the city centre, and parts of Jericho, Osney and East Oxford.

It also provides maps, tourist and travel information, family-friendly offerings, free activities and business listings.

The Discover App supports Oxford City Council’s City Centre Action Plan 2021–2030, which aims to improve wayfinding and visitor experience.

It will continuously update with new and timely information.

The app is available for download now via the Discover App website.
