Shoe shop Russell & Bromley is set to close at the city centre shopping spot on an unspecified date following a brief period of uncertainty.
Earlier in 2026, the business announced all but three of its 36 stores were at risk as they had not been bought in a rescue deal.
Next snapped up the luxury footwear business from administration in a rescue deal, but the future of most of the brand’s stores and 440 staff remains uncertain.

Closing down signs recently appeared at the Oxford-based Russell & Bromley store, with customers warned of the expected closure.
Now, would-be shoppers have been told that neither gift cards nor loyalty points will be accepted in the future.
A statement said: “While the previous operator has ceased trading, the Russell & Bromley brand will be operated by Next in the near future.”
The Next website added: “These can no longer be used and we will not be able to honour these. For any queries about these, please contact the Administrators.”

Andrew Bromley, chief executive of Russell & Bromley, previously said: “Following a strategic review with external advisers, we have taken the difficult decision to sell the Russell & Bromley brand.
“This is the best route to secure the future for the brand, and we would like to thank our staff, suppliers, partners and customers for their support throughout our history.”
Will Wright, Interpath’s UK chief executive, had added: “Our intention is to continue to trade the remaining portfolio of stores for as long as we can, while we explore the options available.”
