This follows the expansion of breast clinic services at GenesisCare’s specialist outpatient cancer care centre in Oxford, which aims to offer rapid reassurance for women experiencing symptoms such as lumps or changes in breast tissue.

Roberta Fuller, centre leader, said: “We’re really pleased to be expanding our breast diagnostic services, as being able to offer patients fast access to specialist assessment and same-day answers means we can provide reassurance and peace of mind at what can be a very worrying time.
“Our team is committed to providing the very best, personalised care, and our breast clinic service means we can support patients quickly and effectively when they need us most.”
At the clinic, women are seen by a consultant breast surgeon and, where needed, receive a mammogram and assessment on the same day.
Results are shared during the appointment, and if a biopsy is needed, it can be arranged within just five days.
The clinic also offers private breast screening mammograms for women over 40 who have no symptoms but want additional and more regular reassurance alongside routine NHS screening.
This service also supports women who want to begin screening before the NHS starting age of 50 or continue beyond 70.
Timely specialist assessment helps catch breast cancer earlier, which improves treatment outcomes and reduces anxiety.
For the majority of women—around 90 per cent—whose symptoms turn out to be benign, the service means they can avoid prolonged periods of uncertainty.
Following all mammograms carried out at GenesisCare, women are informed whether or not they have dense breast tissue.
The only way to determine breast density is through a mammogram, and around half of women in their 40s have breasts which are classified as dense or very dense.
This can make cancers more difficult to detect using standard mammograms so, where appropriate, a rapid breast MRI scan may be offered for more sensitive imaging.
This helps ensure that cancer is detected as early as possible, so that treatment can begin quickly.
The service also aims to support the rising number of younger women being diagnosed with breast cancer, with recent studies highlighting increased rates among women under 50.
GenesisCare says early and clear answers can significantly reduce psychological stress and speed up access to care for those who need it.
