Family-run ice cream shop in Banbury to close after one year

The Sundae Girls, run by Niki Rodhouse and her three daughters, set up in Parsons Street in April last year to serve soft scoop and gelato, sundaes and desserts to Banbury.

But the business owner shared the “bittersweet news” on Friday that the shop would be shutting shown at the end of May.

Ms Rodhouse said: “After much thought and reflection, we are sharing the bittersweet news that our beloved gelato shop will be closing its doors.

“We have had a wonderful time serving our customers and made some life-long friends in our short time here.

“From the very first scoop to the countless conversations shared across the counter, this little shop has been filled with laughter, community spirit, and unforgettable memories.

“Watching families create traditions, seeing familiar faces come into their happy place, and welcoming new customers who quickly became friends has meant more to us than words can say.

“Sadly, the time is coming to an end in our lovely shop. Like many small businesses, we’ve faced challenges behind the scenes, and despite our best efforts, we’ve made the difficult decision to close this chapter.

“This decision has not been easy, but it is the right one for us at this moment.”

The shop owner thanked supporters of the business for their “kindness, encouragement and loyalty” over the last year and said she’s “excited about what the future holds, even if it looked a little different”.

The Sundae Girls shop in Parsons Street, Banbury, will continue trading until the last week of May, open 11am to 5pm Wednesday to Saturday, and 11am to 4pm on Sundays.
