Beaminster groomer’s success in international competition

Laura Cook based in Abingdon, who runs Tails & Tweed Grooming, competed in the RKC Grooming Championships and secured the runner-up spot in the Gundog Handstrip category.

The event attracts professional groomers from around the world and showcases the highest standards in the industry.

Ms Cook said: “Competitions like this really test your knowledge and experience. You have to quickly assess the dog and produce the best possible result. It’s incredibly rewarding and something I’m very proud of.”

Unlike many competitors who work with dogs they know, Ms Cook met her competition dog just one hour before the class began. She assessed the coat and completed the groom within the allotted time, finishing ahead of most of the international field.

The dog she prepared was also selected for the Best in Show awards ring, representing her category among the standout grooms of the competition.

With more than 25 years of experience in professional dog grooming, Ms Cook said she welcomes opportunities to push her skills further. She said: “It’s incredibly rewarding and something I’m very proud of.”

Ms Cook continues to set the bar high at Tails & Tweed Grooming, where she brings competition-level knowledge and care to every dog she works with. She remains committed to delivering high standards through her business.
