voco Oxford Thames and voco Oxford Spires have been shortlisted in the sustainability category of the British Quality Foundation (BQF) UK Excellence Awards.
The awards ceremony will be held at Wembley Stadium in October.
Wendy Procter, cluster general manager for both voco Hotels, said: “Our people-first approach proves sustainability can thrive even within complex hospitality operations and heritage buildings dating back to medieval times.
“We’re incredibly proud to have been named a finalist in the excellence in sustainability category.
“It recognises the dedication of our team, especially our Head of Facilities, Andrei Poor, and Stuart Cutts.
“We’re working incredibly hard to ensure sustainability is part of everything we do.
“We’re delighted to see that work recognised on a national platform and remain committed to making continued progress and achieving our environmental goals.”
The BQF UK Excellence Awards celebrate organisations that have embedded genuine environmental, social or economic sustainability into their culture.
Finalists are recognised for taking meaningful action beyond compliance, through innovation and measurable environmental impact.
The hotels’ sustainability efforts are guided by IHG’s Journey to Tomorrow framework, a 10-year environmental, social and governance plan launched in 2021 and aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Under this framework, the hotels have significantly reduced energy, waste and water consumption while improving guest experience, biodiversity and community engagement.
Being a finalist places voco Oxford Thames and voco Oxford Spires alongside organisations and teams that deliver excellence and progress in sustainability.
