C.S. Boswell Independent Funeral Services announced the result in a Facebook post following the ceremony at the Chesterton Hotel.
The award was presented after the director, Carl Boswell, was shortlisted by Whitley Stimpson Ltd several months earlier.
It recognises people whose commitment and efforts bring financial and non-financial benefits to their organisation.
As one of three finalists, the director was assessed on business planning, growth, profitability, customer service and raising the organisation’s profile.
Mr Boswell said: “I am incredibly humbled and proud to announce that I was named Winner of Business Person of the Year 2026!
“Without the incredible support, dedication and hard work of my brother Ryan and all the staff, this achievement simply would not have been possible.
“I am extremely grateful to everyone who has supported me and the business along the way, and to those involved in the Cherwell Business Awards for giving me the opportunity to be recognised with this award.”
The award category considers strategic plans, growth, profitability, customer expectations and the organisation’s profile.
Judges considered evidence of developing and implementing plans, improving profitability, exceeding customer expectations and raising the profile of the organisation.
C.S. Boswell Independent Funeral Services thanked those who supported the business and congratulated the other finalists.
