Update after Oxfordshire Tesco superstore closed for ‘issue’

This morning (Tuesday, September 29) local people reported that the supermarket on Wallingford Road in Didcot had closed.

While there was speculation about the cause, Tesco has since confirmed that it was to do with a technical issue with one of the refrigeration units in the store.

The superstore is now confirmed to be open as usual.

A Tesco Spokesperson said: “Our Didcot Superstore is open as usual following a brief closure earlier today.

“We apologise for the inconvenience caused.”

Earlier this summer, the store was also in the news after it was forced to throw away “tonnes of food” after freezers broke during an unprecedented UK heatwave.

Other supermarkets across the UK also reported the issue.
