Basque cheesecake café to open at Bicester Village

London-based brand La Maritxu will open its first site outside the capital on October 1, bringing its signature caramelised cheesecakes to one of the UK’s most popular shopping destinations.

The café will serve a variety of Basque cheesecakes in multiple sizes, including individual slices, mini cheesecakes, and whole cheesecakes.

The menu will feature the brand’s classic cheesecake alongside seasonal options including tiramisu and a chocolate and orange flavour created exclusively for Bicester Village.

A spokesman for La Maritxu said: “The opening marks an exciting next step for the growing brand, bringing its cheesecakes to one of the UK’s best-known shopping destinations for visitors to enjoy on the go or take home.”

Co-founder Ignacio launched La Maritxu in 2021 with his wife Lucia.

Their cakes are baked at high temperatures to achieve a caramelised top and a creamy, smooth centre.

La Maritxu currently operates four cafés in London and produces more than 300 cheesecakes daily from its central kitchen in Bethnal Green.

Each cheesecake is made using premium ingredients and follows the traditional Basque method.

The Bicester café will also offer a selection of teas, coffees, and specialty drinks.

La Maritxu joins Bicester Village’s line-up of internationally renowned brands, giving shoppers a new option for a sweet treat during their visit.

The café will be open daily from 9am to 9pm.
