\n Hawkstone, named after a Cotswold stone, was announced last year as the fastest-growing company in the region in the fourth annual Sunday Times 100 rankings.\n<\/p>\n
\n The brewery, whose largest shareholder is Mr Clarkson, was ranked 23rd on the list, which ranks the 100 leading entrepreneurial businesses in the UK.\n<\/p>\n
\n Last year, the 65-year-old former Top Gear presenter bought a pub for \u00a31m in Asthall near Burford and named it The Farmer’s Dog.\n<\/p>\n
\n Inside the pub he sells Hawkstone lager, an alcoholic drink brewed from malted barley grown on his 1,000 acre farm.\n<\/p>\n
\n The brand is led by managing director Owen Jenkins, 44, and has expanded into more than 1,500 UK pubs.\n<\/p>\n
\n Supermarkets also sell Hawkstone, including the Co-op, Waitrose, Sainsbury’s and Morrisons.\n<\/p>\n
\n The business has nearly tripled its sales to \u00a321.3 million in the year up to March with an average annual growth of 134 per cent over the last three years.\n<\/p>\n
\n The Daily Mail has reported that Hawkstone is now a top contender to be the official beer partner of Lord’s after BrewDog closed down.\n<\/p>\n
\n Mr Clarkson’s company will go head-to-head with other industry heavyweights that have already shown interest.\n<\/p>\n
\n Robert Lawson, chief executive and secretary of Lord’s owner Marylebone Cricket Club, confirmed a new tender process in a letter as seen by the Mail.\n<\/p>\n
\n He wrote: “Following recent changes to the brewery’s business operations, the club believes this is the right step to ensure certainty and continuity ahead of the 2026 season.\n<\/p>\n
\n “A competitive tender process to appoint a new supplier for the coming season and beyond will now begin.”\n<\/p>\n
