\n Last summer, the pub was put on the market for\u00a0\u00a31,250,000 following which it was reduced to \u00a3750,000 and now it has gone down to \u00a3650,000, almost half its original price.\n<\/p>\n

\n There have been several failed attempts to convert it into a furniture store.\n<\/p>\n
\n In January 2025, applicant White Pennant\u00a0applied to convert it into three homes which was subsequently approved in April by\u00a0Cherwell District Council.\n<\/p>\n
\n The property listing on Rightmove states: “Currently classed as commercial with approved planning conversion and alteration of former public house to provide three dwellings, plus hard and soft landscaping and associated works.\n<\/p>\n

\n “The three separate units totalling around 5,000 square foot of accommodation if utilising the existing plans.”\n<\/p>\n
\n The original planning application\u00a0received two\u00a0letters in objection and three in support from locals.\n<\/p>\n

\n Ardley and\u00a0Fewcott Parish Council\u00a0also objected in the ‘strongest possible terms’ due to the development failing\u00a0to reflect both the significant location and the community uses required by the village.\n<\/p>\n
\n Objector Mark Rowan, who lives in East Street, Fritwell, said that \u201cwe’re losing too many pubs\u201d.\n<\/p>\n
\n Meanwhile supporter of the planning application Caroline Ryan, of Somerton Road, Ardley, called it a \u201cterrible eyesore\u201d.\n<\/p>\n
\n She added: \u201cIf the buildings can be kept in some way and made into homes, that would be great.\u201d\n<\/p>\n
