\n Gemma Elliott, who works with Dorchester Living in Bordon, is using Women in Construction Week (March 1\u20137) to promote the sector and highlight its growing support for female professionals.\n<\/p>\n
\n Ms Elliott began her career in construction as an apprentice after leaving the hospitality industry in 2021 and has since progressed to her current role, gaining hands-on experience at Heyford Park in Oxfordshire.\n<\/p>\n
\n Ms Elliott said: “I came into the industry after Covid, when I really looked at the skills I’d developed and realised a lot of them could transfer into construction and that’s for me where the journey began.”\n<\/p>\n
\n She said her father worked as a groundworker, but she hadn’t seriously considered a career in the field until later.\n<\/p>\n
\n Despite her positive experience, Ms Elliott said that misconceptions remain about women working on site.\n<\/p>\n
\n Paul Silver, chief executive of Dorchester Living, said: “Gemma is an asset to Dorchester Living and is a great example of the talented individuals helping to shape the future of the construction industry.\n<\/p>\n
\n “With over a quarter of a million workers needed in the construction industry by 2028, it has never been more important to encourage a wider range of people to explore the opportunities available in the sector.\n<\/p>\n
