\n Oxford Bus Company has invested \u00a34 million in 13 new Mercedes Tourismo coaches for its popular Airline route, which connects Oxford to Heathrow and Gatwick airports.\n<\/p>\n
\n The vehicles promise greater comfort and advanced safety features for passengers.\n<\/p>\n
\n Luke Marion, managing director of Oxford Bus Company, said: “We\u2019re proud of the heritage of our luxury Airline service and to be celebrating such a milestone of helping people connect with and between the two airports.\n<\/p>\n
\n “This significant investment in upgrading our Airline fleet further underpins our commitment to the service.\n<\/p>\n
\n “The new coaches are fantastic and include new technology, making them the most modern and luxurious coaches in the UK.”\n<\/p>\n
\n The Airline is the most frequent coach service between Oxford and both Heathrow and Gatwick airports, with departures every 20 minutes to Heathrow and hourly to Gatwick throughout the day.\n<\/p>\n
\n The new coaches are part of a 20-vehicle fleet, with 13 being replaced as part of this investment.\n<\/p>\n
\n The first of the new vehicles are expected to enter service this spring.\n<\/p>\n
\n The coaches meet ultra-low Euro 6 emission standards and feature enhanced safety technologies, including digital camera-operated mirrors, sideguard alerts for detecting pedestrians and cyclists, active brake assist, and multi-lane monitoring for motorway travel.\n<\/p>\n
\n Upgraded cybersecurity measures, including anti-hacking software, have also been installed.\n<\/p>\n
\n The vehicles are equipped with hearing loops and audio-visual aids to improve accessibility for all passengers.\n<\/p>\n
\n The journey from Oxford to Heathrow Terminal 5 takes approximately 80 minutes, with Heathrow Central Bus Station reached in around 90 minutes.\n<\/p>\n
\n The route to Gatwick South Terminal takes between two hours 15 minutes and two hours 50 minutes, with an additional 10 minutes to reach Gatwick North Terminal.\n<\/p>\n
\n Oxford stops for the service include Thornhill Park and Ride, Headington shops, Oxford Brookes University, St Clement\u2019s, High Street and Gloucester Green.\n<\/p>\n
\n All coaches feature USB charging points at every seat, free Wi-Fi, and convenient drop-offs outside airport terminals.\n<\/p>\n
\n Passengers are permitted two suitcases (up to 20kg each) and one small item of hand luggage at no extra charge.\n<\/p>\n
\n Children may bring one suitcase (up to 20kg) and a small item of hand luggage.\n<\/p>\n
\n Larger items such as cycles, skis and trunks can only be transported if space is available, subject to the driver\u2019s discretion and a \u00a35 surcharge per item.\n<\/p>\n
