Straight and Narrow Drinks to close after falling into liquidation<\/p>\n
\n Despite the positive reception, Straight and Narrow Drinks has now entered liquidation and is set to close.\n<\/p>\n
\n Nick West and Craig Povey of BTG Begbies Traynor (Central) LLP were appointed as joint liquidators on September 30, according to The Gazette.\n<\/p>\n
\n Companies House records show that Straight and Narrow Drinks has also been served with a winding-up notice.\n<\/p>\n
\n The notice states: “The Registrar of Companies gives notice that, unless cause is shown to the contrary, the Company will be struck off the register and dissolved not less than 2 months from the date shown above [September 29].\n<\/p>\n
\n “Upon the Company’s dissolution, all property and rights vested in, or held in trust for, the Company are deemed to be bona vacantia, and will belong to the Crown.”\n<\/p>\n
\n Accounts for the year up to October 2025 are overdue, according to Companies House.\n<\/p>\n
Other UK companies that have closed or entered administration\/liquidation in 2026<\/p>\n
\n It has been a tough year for the UK high street, with several retailers entering administration or liquidation and others announcing widespread store closures.\n<\/p>\n
\n Major high street brands LK Bennett, Claire’s and Quiz have been forced to close all their remaining stores after falling into administration.\n<\/p>\n
\n UK fashion retailer Leading Labels is also set to close its remaining 15 stores after falling into liquidation in May.\n<\/p>\n
\n Whitbread closed all its standalone branded restaurants across the UK last month, including:\n<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
\n TG Jones and the British Heart Foundation will also be closing around 150 stores each across the UK.\n<\/p>\n
\n Wynsors World of Shoes is shutting 17 stores across the UK, with closing down sales already underway at several affected branches.\n<\/p>\n

\n Several UK travel companies have ceased trading or entered administration in 2026, including:\n<\/p>\n
\n Wayfairer Travel Limited has also suspended all services “until further notice” as it looks to appoint an administrator.\n<\/p>\n
\n Meanwhile, four UK airlines have fallen into administration or liquidation:\n<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
\n UK delivery company Yodel was phased out completely in July after being acquired by InPost.\n<\/p>\n
\n Meanwhile, iconic fashion brand Nasty Gal has shut down its website after being sold by Debenhams in a deal worth around \u00a312 million (US$16 million).\n<\/p>\n
\n It hasn’t all been bad news for the UK high street, with several major brands announcing new store openings for 2026, including Joules, Aldi, M&S, and Superdrug.\n<\/p>\n
\n Meanwhile, brands including Evans and Bodycare have returned to the UK high street this year after previously closing all their stores.\n<\/p>\n
