\n\tOn Sept. 11, Istituto Marangoni Dubai presented its inaugural fashion show and degree show, \u201cIn Common \u2014 Design in Dialogue,\u201d at Gooder indoor skatepark in Dubai.<\/p>\n
\n\tThe event showcased the work of the university\u2019s graduate students in celebration of the next generation of talent emerging in the region. Ten emerging designers from Istituto Marangoni Dubai presented their collections showcasing their perspectives on identity, culture and contemporary life through fashion.<\/p>\n
\n\tThe collections showed a dichotomy of heritage meets contemporary life; intimacy meets provocation; belonging intersects with rootlessness, and memories, music, nature, street culture and personal histories become material for visual language.<\/p>\n
\n\tReflecting the evolving conversation of runway, the show was rooted in the school\u2019s Dubai location, presented for a global audience. With its different perspectives, references and creative practices, the show offered multiple identities, disciplines and points of view.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe 10 designers who presented their collections were Alaa Naser Asker\u2019s \u201cDo Your Laundry,\u201d Aya Kaddour\u2019s \u201cThe Hidden Beauty of Villainy,\u201d Chloe Crisolo\u2019s \u201cDripping Water Wears Away Stone,\u201d Harsha Serrem\u2019s \u201cAxion,\u201d Jana Mneimneh\u2019s \u201cHikari-Uchi,\u201d Karim Fakhrutdinov\u2019s \u201cLola,\u201d Maria Arnaout\u2019s \u201cDarling, Your Hair,\u201d Nadine Suliman\u2019s \u201cWadi Halfa,\u201d Pin Xi Bao\u2019s \u201cThe Burial Grounds\u201d and Sofia Kalacheva\u2019s \u201cContour. \n\tAs part of the overall 2026 degree shows, the multidisciplinary celebration brought together graduate and student works within the areas of fashion business, interior design, visual design, fashion communication and image, fashion design and fragrance and cosmetics.<\/p>\n
\n\t\u201cIn Common \u2014 Design in Dialogue\u201d was created as a cultural gathering at its Alserkal Avenue location to allow for shared presence, experimentation and cultural exchange.<\/p>\n
\n\t\u201c\u2019In Common \u2014 Design in Dialogue\u2019 is a celebration, a milestone for Istituto Marangoni Dubai and a special moment for our community,\u201d said Roberto La Iacona, school director of Istituto Marangoni Dubai. \u201cFor the first time, we are celebrating our graduates through both a fashion show and an exhibition, creating a platform that highlights the creativity and talent of our students across disciplines.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tExpanding on the concept of \u201cIn Common\u201d beyond the runway, the degree show created a space for platforms across a variety of disciplines to interact with each other. The exhibition focused on proximity and how different disciplines interplay.<\/p>\n
\n\t\u201c\u2018In Common \u2014 Design in Dialogue\u2019 reflects what we believe design education should make possible: the transformation of individual experience into shared cultural meaning,\u201d said Marie Genevieve Cyr, director of education at Istituto Marangoni Dubai. \u201cAcross the runway and degree show, our graduates bring forward distinct voices shaped by heritage, identity, memory, place, experimentation and contemporary life \u2014 yet what is most powerful is what emerges between them.\u201d<\/p>\n
\n\tThe fashion business offered projects with industry-led work such as Ounass x Fendi and a Versace relaunch strategy. Interior design presented projects spanning hospitality, residential, community and cultural spaces. Visual design showcased work across branding, campaigns, editorials, motion graphics, posters and exhibition design. Fashion design and fashion communication and image contributed to the collections via styling, image-making and creative direction, alongside fragrance and cosmetic contributions.<\/p>\n
