\n Ethan Jenkins, 28, of no fixed abode, was sentenced to three years in prison at Oxford Crown Court on September 18.\n<\/p>\n
\n Appearing via video link from Bullingdon prison, he pleaded guilty to 11 counts in total, including seven for commercial burglary and four for theft during his spree from May to June.\n<\/p>\n
\n He stole \u00a3281.06 worth of product from Tesco on Cowley Road in Oxford on three occasions in June, including chocolate boxes, grocery items, coffee and meat.\n<\/p>\n
\n A number of commercial properties were targeted across Oxford from May 31 to June 16 during his burgling spree.\n<\/p>\n
\n He burgled and stole cash from Qumin restaurant on St Clement’s Street on May 31 and Mahogany on Little Clarendon Street on June 7, stealing \u00a3500.\n<\/p>\n
\n Several other businesses were targeted on June 9, including George & Davis Ice Cream, the Duke of Cambridge and Blushes on Little Clarendon Street, as well as Italiamo Caf\u00e9 on Broad Street, entering the premises with intent to steal or to steal cash.\n<\/p>\n
\n On June 16, he entered Walters & Co, a well-known tailors and suit shop that has been running for over 150 years on Turl Street, as well as Botley Barbers, the restaurant La Croissanterie and a Chinese restaurant.\n<\/p>\n
\n He admitted to trespassing with intent to steal from the tailors\n<\/p>\n
\n Three days later on June 19, he was arrested and charged with the offences.\n<\/p>\n
\n Investigating officer PC Jon Kelly said: \u201cThese convictions demonstrate that Thames Valley Police takes retail crime and the commercial burglaries that affect local businesses very seriously.\n<\/p>\n
\n \u201cJenkins had only been in Oxford since May 21 and was offending within days of moving to the county.\n<\/p>\n
\n \u201cWorking alongside colleagues from Gloucestershire Police, we were able to track him down and arrest him. As a result of his offending, he was also recalled to prison.\n<\/p>\n
\n \u201cThis result was made possible by officers and staff from a number of teams working together. Jenkins was charged with a series of retail thefts and commercial burglaries, and has now been brought before the courts.\n<\/p>\n
\n \u201cThe sentence imposed by Oxford Crown Court reflects the seriousness of his offending and will help protect retailers and independent businesses in Oxford from further crime.\n<\/p>\n
\n \u201cRetail theft and burglary can have a significant impact on businesses, particularly independent retailers, and we remain committed to pursuing those responsible and bringing them before the courts.\u201d\n<\/p>\n
\n Judge Gledhill delivered the three-year prison sentence for the burglaries, which is to run concurrently with a one-year sentence for the thefts.\n<\/p>\n
