\n\tHAPPY ANNIVERSARY: Ala\u00efa joined the scores of designers commemorating Bergdorf Goodman\u2018s 125th anniversary with exclusive products and nostalgic pieces.<\/p>\n
\n\tThe Parisian luxury design house has created a six-piece capsule collection for BG\u2019s milestone that officials said \u201cbrings together iconic creations and archival silhouettes.\u201d The capsule includes an A-line pony-hair leather coat in rich chocolate, a black-and-silver studded skater skirt and matching dress, a contemporary sweater engineered in an innovative knit, a sculptural body-con dress in deep green velvet and a chocolate dress featuring the legendary V-shape first unveiled on the 1982 runway.<\/p>\n
\n\tBergdorf Goodman and Ala\u00efa have partnered together since 1981, when the legendary and late Bergdorf fashion director Dawn Mello spotted Paris fashion editors wearing Azzedine Ala\u00efa to shows. Recognizing a transformative talent, Mello invited the designer to New York in 1982 when he staged a fashion show inside Bergdorf\u2019s. The event marked Ala\u00efa\u2019s debut in New York and was photographed from the audience by Andy Warhol. According to Bergdorf\u2019s, customers responded with such enthusiasm that Ala\u00efa\u2019s line at the store sold out within two days, \u201cinstantly cementing Ala\u00efa\u2019s connection.\u201d<\/p>\n
\n\tBergdorf\u2019s has a reputation for either discovering or supporting new designers early in their careers including Michael Kors, Claude Montana and Gianfranco Ferr\u00e9, as well as Ala\u00efa.<\/p>\n
\n\tFor its 125th, Bergdorf\u2019s actually partnered with more than 100 brands, on exclusive collections and special products spanning more than 850 styles from Akris, Schiaparelli, Roger Vivier, Michael Kors, Brunello Cucinelli, Diotima, Thom Browne, Tom Ford and Zankov, among others. Many designers attended BG\u2019s birthday party held Sept. 9.<\/p>\n
