\n\tMarc Metrick, former chief executive officer of Saks Global with an extended history working in retail operations and finance positions at Saks Fifth Avenue, has joined BRG Corporate Finance in New York as a managing director.<\/p>\n

\n\tMetrick will be involved in helping retail and consumer brand clients of BRG, a practice that advises companies on turnarounds, restructurings, performance improvement and transactions. He has over 30 years of operational, transformational and financial experience, primarily at Saks Fifth Avenue, where he started as an executive trainee and most recently served as CEO of the parent Saks Global, which included Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus, Bergdorf Goodman and Saks Off 5th.<\/p>\n
\n\tHowever, Metrick stepped down as CEO in early January amid turmoil in the company stemming from being cash strapped and failing to pay bills owed to many vendors, largely due to the company\u2019s $2.7 billion acquisition of the Neiman Marcus Group in December 2024. Metrick played a pivotal role in orchestrating the acquistion and subsequent maneuvers to integrate and consolidate the operations of NMG and Saks Fifth Avenue. Earlier, he played a key role in separating the stores and e-commerce operations of Saks Fifth Avenue into separate companies, which raised money for the Saks brand, though seasons later, the two businesses were recombined. Saks Global emerged from bankruptcy in late June 2026 as a new company with a cleaner balance sheet and new owners called the Exemplar Luxury Group.<\/p>\n
\n\tBefore becoming CEO of Saks Global, Metrick was CEO of Saks Fifth Avenue, president of Saks Fifth Avenue. He spent 15 years in senior leadership roles at Saks and at Hudson\u2019s Bay Company which purchased Saks in 2013 for $2.9 billion. Metrick served as HBC\u2019s chief administrative officer, played an instrumental role in HBC\u2019s acquisition of Saks. He joined HBC in 2012 as chief marketing officer, where he oversaw all marketing and digital commerce for Hudson\u2019s Bay and Lord & Taylor, which HBC also owned. Prior to this, Metrick served as the chief strategy officer at Saks Fifth Avenue.<\/p>\n
