\n\tLAW AND ORDER: Kering has promoted Sophie Maddaloni, its longtime group tax director, to general secretary of the group, effective immediately.<\/p>\n
\n\tMaddaloni, who is based in Paris, also joins Kering\u2019s executive committee and reports to Jean-Marc Duplaix, group chief operating officer.<\/p>\n
\n\tMaddaloni succeeds M\u00e9lanie Flouquet, who left Kering last May after 14 months to join investment bank Morgan Stanley.<\/p>\n
\n\tIn her new role, Maddaloni is responsible for the group\u2019s governance and for safeguarding its interests,
as well as for upholding the highest standards of compliance, according to Kering. She oversees its legal, internal control, internal audit and security departments.<\/p>\n
\n\tShe brings \u201crecognized expertise in legal affairs, governance and organizational transformation. Her track record and in-depth knowledge of Kering will be valuable assets in supporting the implementation of the group\u2019s strategic priorities, further strengthening its governance standards and sustaining its long-term development,\u201d Kering said in a statement issued Tuesday after the close of trading on the Paris Bourse.<\/p>\n
\n\tAfter getting a master\u2019s degree in business law from Universit\u00e9 Paris II Panth\u00e9on-Assas and a postgraduate degree in international business law and taxation from HEC Paris \u2013 Universit\u00e9 de Sceaux, Maddaloni began her career in 1991 at Elf Aquitaine, logging 10 years in a range of international tax roles at the French oil company. She joined Alstom in 2002 and Technip in 2004, where she headed the group\u2019s tax and legal functions.<\/p>\n
\n\tShe moved over to Kering in 2017 and \u201cled the transformation of the tax function and contributed to strengthening Kering\u2019s compliance and risk management framework,\u201d the group said.<\/p>\n
